It is a one-day seminar that offers classes on nutrition, peer pressure and exercise to Girl Scouts Juniors and Girl Scouts Cadettes (grades 4 to 8). Troop leaders also attend separate, similar sessions geared toward health, wellness and social issues girls may face. This program is a partnership between the Medical Center and the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. “It’s a Girl Thing! provides a fun, relaxed environment for girls to get together and learn about heart healthy lifestyles,” says April Meise, community relations coordinator and co-organizer of the workshop. “It also teaches girls about the importance of individuality and healthy self-esteem.”
A $10 registration fee (for girls and adults) includes a participation patch and lunch. The registration deadline is March 2, 2013. Click here to download the registration form.
