140423_GRJ0470The Distinguished Women Award Event, which began in 1980, is Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s only annual fundraiser. The evening honors five women in our community who lead amazing lives guided by the values of Girl Scouting and showcases an exciting mentoring opportunity for five selected high school Girl Scouts.

In addition to honoring five successful women in central Maryland, the Distinguished Women’s program provides five Girl Scout Seniors or Ambassadors an opportunity to spend a day in the life with our Honorees discovering new fields, learning corporate responsibility and gaining insight as they make strides in their own career paths. Guests are given a brief glimpse of the Shadow Girl and Honoree’s rewarding experiences at the Distinguished Women’s Award Reception during the award presentation. Proceeds from this event are designated for quality mentoring experiences and programming in career exploration opportunities for girls in our community, particularly the 9,000 at-risk girls served by our Council.
